Milwaukee North's Tasha Allen: D2 to D1 Transition

At the 2008 State Meet Tasha Allen set records in the D2 100m and 200m dash events. For the 2009 season Milwaukee North was moved to D1. At the Myrhum Invitational held at Hartland Arrowhead High School on Friday night, May 8, the senior sprinter set two records.

Her 12.14 clocking in the 100m dash broke the old record of 12.2 set in 1985 by Dana Butzman of Arrowhead. Allen also set a Myrhum record in the 400m. The old record was set by Micky Logan of Kettle Moraine in 1984. Logan's time was 58.3. Allen took almost three seconds off the old record time by recording a 55.85. This time put her at the top of the HR 400m Dash List for week 8.

Shelby Demos Jumps 5' 09 At The Demon Invitational

Viking Senior Shelby Demos won the high jump at the Demon Invitational held at Burlington high School on Friday night, May 8. Her leap of 5' 09 set a Meet and a Janesville Parker school record. She had set the old Demon meet record with a height of 5' 06 in 2007.

She bettered the old school record by one inch. That record was set by Lori Kemnitz in 1978. Kemnitz is pictured below right. Kemnitz was Parker's first girl State Champion winning the HJ event in 1977 [5' 05].

Demos is pictured [above] at the 2008 State Meet in which she won the D1 HJ Championship with a height of 5' 06. Demos is pictured [above right] clearing 5' 04 after missing twice at that height. Janesville Parker senior Erika Moen broke the Demon Invite meet record in the discus with a throw of 116' 10.

The old record was set by Lake Geneva Badger athlete Alexia Child with a throw of 115' 06 in 2008.
